Population and Geography 

Globally, Shengyang locates in central region of northeast of Asia, adjacent to Japan, D.P.R.Korea, P.O.Korea, Mongolia, Russia, etc. Domestically, Shengyang locates in the area between northeast economic zone and Bohai rim economic zone which includes five provinces of Liaoning, Hebei, Shandong, Shanxi, inner-Mongolia and two cities of Beijing, Tianjing. Shengyang is under temperate continental climate with distinct seasons. With a population of 6.67 million, Shengyang is a distinguished industrial base and a historical city.

 Industry and Human resources 

Shengyang is an old industrial base set up in the first "Five-Year Plan" as a key project. Now a comprehensive industry system has formed which mainly involves machining and includes metallurgy, chemical industry, medicine, textiles, electrical, automobile, aviation, building material industry, etc. This system is able to produce whole set of equipment and capable of comprehensive processing. Now Shengyang has technicians of more than 550,000 including 250,000 persons in natural science field, which is among tops of the big cities in China. Shengyang becomes the biggest exchange center of capital, information and intellectuals in northeast region.

 Education 

In Shengyang, there are 578 university graduates among every 10,000 people, that is more than triple of the average in China. And it has 30 universities/colleges and more than 400 science research institutes. Among them, academic research of Shengyang Metal Research Institute of China Science Academy, Forest & Soil Research Institute, Shengyang Chemical Industry Academy of Chemical Industry Ministry, Shengyang Foundry Academy is in the lead domestically. In some fields, they are showing up in world.
