Tianjin, the largest port city, transportation hub and trade centre in
North China, is known as the gateway to the capital of China, Beijing.
Population
Tianjin divided into 13 districts, has population of 9.5 million, with a total area of 11,300 km².
Industry & Manpower
As an industrial base for over 120 years, Tianjin possess
advantages in instrumentation, electronic, marine chemical, light, textile & garment, automobile and home appliances industries. It is an important city for light industry in North China.
There are about 3 million skilled workers in the 14 thousands industrial
enterprises in Tianjin. Some 1 million skilled workers are employed in the Multi-National Corporation invested in Tianjin.
Education
Tianjin is one of the scientific and technical force
intensive areas in China. There are over 900 organizations of scientific
research and technological development.
The New Tech Industrial Park was approved by the State Council of China as the State
Hi-New Tech Industrial Development Zone in 1991. There are 9 universities and
colleges and almost 100 scientific research and design institutions in the Park
Zone with 30,000 odd scientists and engineers.
The staff members of Tianjin have not only inherited the fine traditions
inherent to the industrial force of old industrial and commercial cities,
but also acquired the qualifications needed by modern staff. They are
